EU–Mercosur Agreement: A Turning Point After 25 Years of Negotiations
The EU–Mercosur agreement marks a historic step toward economic integration between Europe and South America. However, before entering fully into force, the treaty still requires ratification by Mercosur member states and approval by the European Parliament. If applied provisionally, several trade provisions could already take effect by 2026, creating new opportunities for trade, investment, and cooperation in sectors such as automotive, machinery, and agriculture.
